What it is
The Athens International Book Fair, organised annually at the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Centre / Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, is the principal Greek-language book event of the year. While not a collecting fair per se, it is the leading venue for Greek antiquarian and rare-book dealers to exhibit, and a focal point for collectors of Greek-language literature, scholarly editions, photographic books, and modern Greek poetry first editions.
When & where
City: Athens, Greece.
Venue: typically Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre.
Frequency: annual, typically held in May.
Why it matters for collectors
For book collectors with an interest in Greek-language material, this is the only meaningful in-Greece public venue where multiple antiquarian dealers exhibit together. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre also hosts collecting-relevant exhibitions throughout the year.
