Authentication and grading
PSA dominates with about 70% of the high-end market. SGC has gained ground for vintage. BGS handles modern. Beware altered cards — trimmed, recolored, or pressed examples are increasingly identified by PSA’s review process. The 2019 PSA scandal exposed widespread alteration; provenance through major auctions (Heritage, Goldin, REA) is the safest path.
