A surface mark on a vintage card caused by direct contact with the wax wrapper of its original pack. Wax stains are typically translucent yellowish-brown marks on the back or edges of the card.

Light wax stains are sometimes considered acceptable on vintage wax-pulled cards (and may even support authenticity claims for sealed-pack pulls), but heavy wax stains affect grade and value.
