The hard plastic case used by grading services (PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC, PCGS, NGC) to encapsulate graded cards or coins. Slabs include the assigned grade, certification number, and tamper-evident sealing.
Slabs protect the item from physical damage and provide third-party verification of authenticity and grade. Once a slab is broken (“cracked”), the encapsulation cannot be restored — the item must be regraded.
